Netflix-Inspired Namecards!

I've successfully given out most of my Squid Game business cards and will soon launch our Alice in Borderland-inspired series. Despite the mushrooming of digital "cards" (some even come with a physical plastic card used to tap on my phone except 8 out of 10 times nothing happens), it is still easier to remember people by these small pieces of paper/cardboard two weeks after the event. Except for the guy who said "Oh I thought you work for Mr. Gao".

And you wonder why everyone still gives plain, boring cards which make the task of remembering the person named on the card rather difficult. Just because everyone gives cards that are monochromatic, often in some variation of white, doesn't mean business cards can only exist in this format. Whether it's work, or laundry, or getting nutrients, I'm constantly thinking, "Is there a better way?"

The diamond games in Alice in Borderland require wit and intelligence, and the royal battles in Season 2 especially need dynamic thinking, adapting to the situation and analyzing the other players in the field. This year's financial markets have been challenging and next year remains uncertain with inflation, China's re-opening, energy crisis continuing with the war, potential recession.

The First Edition of Friday Only Club!

  I got a latte art portrait of me today. It's not a "big deal" but shows the barista cares (at 9am in the morning). (No comments on how I look, especially my Bombastic Hair*, unless you look better with no Photoshop in your mid-40s with no makeup). Maybe some would say this is just business, the cafe is trying to get you to buy more coffee. But this is what differentiates a human barista from the Nespresso machine. Recently with year-end celebrations, New Year and Chinese New Year parties, I have been going to fancy wine dinners. I do appreciate the effort, and savings, but after talking to fellow investor friends I realized that sometimes we just need a cool place to chillax and share ideas (aka complain about investments that didn't work out). We can even bring our own wine.
